My wife Rhonda and I have been working with individuals with developmental disabilities since 1988. We began our careers at Fairview Training Center in Salem Oregon which, at the time , was Oregon's largest institution serving people developmental disabilities.
By 1990 Oregon was under increasing pressure by the U.S. Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) to move from the institutional model and toward community based services.
Rhonda and I worked on the first teams formed to help transition those individuals thought to face the greatest challenges with this new direction. At the time, it was widely believed that some of the individuals living in the institution could never succeed in a community setting. This was proven not to be the case.
In 1993 we opened our first home in Oregon dedicated to serving those individuals experiencing the greatest challenges with community integration. In 2007 we began operations in Las Vegas. we believed that our unique approach has proven successful in supporting the people we have served to enjoy a meaningful high-quality of life.
